WESTERN 2015

OFICIAL SECTION OF AWF2015.- Competition - Deadline for submissions August 31, 2015 -

Arranged by the Town Council of Tabernas in the province of Almeria, Spain; the ALMERIA WESTERN FILM FESTIVAL's main objective is to diffuse and promote the Western genre films that contribute to the knowledge of world cinema industry. Western 2015 intents to provide an overview of the current Western film as an international genre. The jury of the Festival will decide which films, previously presented by film-makers, are able to participate in this edition. The jury will also communicate to participants which one has been accepted or rejected to take part into the festival.

FLASHBACK

Flashback selection of the ALMERÍA WESTERN FILM FESTIVAL. This year, in remembrance of the actor Sancho Gracia, the film titled “Outlaw Justice” will be projected. This film was recorded in the natural landscape of the Tabernas desert.

Tribute "in memoriam" of Sancho Gracia

Remembered for his unforgettable performance as “Curro Jimenez” and other titles, Sancho Gracia will be remembranced in this fifth edition. He was the main character of “800 bullets”, in which a group of real actors, stuntmen and extras who work in the Western Industry, have to face to the challenge of a sharp fall in the European Western production.
Recorded almost all the film in the Tabernas desert, the film-maker Alex de la Iglesia try to show in this film a different point of view (from behind the cameras) by giving away the truth of the Western film history of Almeria.

For a few dollars more 50th Anniversary

This year is the For a Few Dollars More 50th Anniversary, therefore it would be a considerable mistake not to remember it. The importance of this film is owing to the fact that it was one of the first Western recording in Almeria and that is the reason because the Mini-Hollywood, beforehand named the settlement of Frayle, was built.
We will have the high honour of being accompanied by some of the people who worked in the film, such as Julio Sempere (who was film-maker assistant), Antonio Ruíz Escaño (dubbed Niño Leone), and some of the workers who built the settlement..

The selection of short films submitted and selected by the selection board represent the new generation of filmmakers who not only use the form of short film as a tribute to a great genre, but some also try to present their works in order to produce a feature film in the future.

VIDEOS

In this section documentary films, video clips, and spots recorded in Almeria; will be exposed. Moreover, there will be discussions and meetings with the stars invited to the Festival.
